GENERAL SECTION
Qualifications and Requirements:

Anyone using the title(s) of insurance adviser, insurance specialist, insurance counselor, insurance analyst or any other similar title, or any title, word or combination of words indicating that he gives, or is engaged in the business of giving advice, counsel, recommendation or information to holders of insurance policies or annuity or pure endowment contracts, must hold an advisors license. Requirements, qualifications and the process of becoming an advisor are written in Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 175, sections 177A-D.

All applicants must successfully complete an examination given by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Contact Victor Fanikos (617-521-7314) of the Division of Insurance to begin this process. The cost of the exam is $75. Upon successful completion of the exam, you will be sent an Advisors License Application. The application must be completed in its entirety and submitted to the Division of Insurance with a $200 application fee. This application will be kept on file with the commissioner. A license will be issued for a period of three years.
